Schedule/Results
The 2009 season is over and what a season. Two SWFA teams won league championships. Congratulations go out to the Bantam and Atom Raiders who capped off undefeated seasons with exciting victories in the Championship Finals (Nov 21, 2009). Congratulations for a great job to both teams and their head coaches Dan Deschamps and Mike Parsons .
Three of our other teams made it to the semi-finals where close losses kept them from competing for the big prize. The SWFA Tyke Panthers lost by 6 points in a hard fought back and forth battle in the semifinals. They were the only team to defeat the eventual championship winners the SEFA Bruins during the season.
The Atom Panthers and Atom Raiders also made made it to the semifinals and wound up facing each other. The Atom Panthers gave a strong showing defensively and moved the ball on offense but were unable to solve the Raiders defense when it counted and while they slowed down the potent Raiders offense were unable to stop it completely. After a hard fought game the Atom Raiders defeated the Panthers and went on to take the championship.
This was without a doubt the best season for SWFA in many a year. We look forward to a return to action in 2010 after a much deserved rest for players and coaches alike.
